Linné's study chair
Carl von Linné probably had his study chair made in the middle of the 1700s, after taking inspiration from, among others, foreign cloisters and university libraries, where heavy and cumbersome books were often used. He therefore created this exceptional, for its time, desk-chair which he used both as a study chair and pulpit for his lessons and lectures.

New production
We have now redeveloped the production technique for an improved ergonomic and aesthetic result. The study chair is, up till now, only produced on order. Every sold unit supports the Linnéminnena (Linné's Memory) through the Linnés Vänner (Friends of Linné).

Pay a visit to the study chair
Linné's old study chair is on display at Linnés Hammarby, south of Uppsala. You can see and try the new study chair at the University library : Carolina Rediviva or at the local newspaper UNT's cityoffice in central Uppsala.
